2 TYPES OF EXPERIMENTAL MACHINES BIRTH OF VIRTUAROIDS:
As a countermeasure, they decided to develop the experimental machines for incorporating the V converter and to make various basic experiments on them. The two types of machines were selected for this planning. They were once planned to be developed in the project called <X.M.U.>, but it was suspended for some reasons. These are the machines later called MBV-04 TEMJINand HBV-05 RAIDEN. The V converters were incorporated in both machines rather smoothly, and the basic experiments were repeated on them steadily.
The project which seemed to be going smoothly experienced many twists and turns for some reasons, and finally came to a deadlock because of the problem of budget. To continue the project, it was necessary to develop the profitable products, namely, the arms. Then, DN Co. changed the specifications of XMU-04-C(TEMJIN in future) and XMU-05-B(RAIDEN in future) which were under development at that time, and put them into an practical battle experimentally to test their real performance.
Although both machines were far from being perfect, they made better military gains than they had been expected. Being pleased with this result, the executives of DN Co. made a decision to put TEMJIN and RAIDEN into practical use. In this way, the project itself continued to exist, but the concept had to change greatly. The initial policy of restoring and utilizing the ruins arms turned into the policy of developing the robot arms based on the preceding experimental machines. (At this time, the name <VIRTUAROID> was used officially.)
In short, the VIRTUAROID is a robot arms developed by incorporating the V converter originated from OT, based on the basic design of the robot in the preceding X.M.U. project. Disregarding the difficult situation of the restoration of the BAL-BAS-BOW unit which should have been a VIRTUAROID in real meaning, various types of robot arms were put into practical use one after another.
THE FIRST GENERATION VIRTUAROIDS:
At the announcement of Operation Moon Gate(O.M.G.), seven types of Virtuaroids were already turned into practical use and deployed. The 11th experimental BAL-BAS-BOW units were also rolled out. Formally, eight types of Virtuaroids existed at that time. These VRs are generically called the 1st Generation VIRTUAROID in some cases. The basic types of the 1st generation VR are MBV-04 TEMJIN and HBV-05 RAIDEN.
TEMJIN is a multi-purpose VR with high mobility. The body design is flexible enough to permit some modification or diversion depending on the various purposes. The skeleton system of TEMJIN is diverted to the Tactical Reconnaissance VR TRV-06 VIPER which incorporates a light armor but high-output generator, as well as to its improved and enhanced version, VIPER II. Also, radicalizing this concept, MBV-09 APHARMD was designed for hand-to-hand battle by adopting lessons on practical fighting. The skeleton system of SRV-14 FEI-YEN is different in structure, but the design concept is taken from that of TEMJIN.
RAIDEN is a firepower support type VR incorporating the heavy armor and armaments. Its structure is specialized to support the heavy body. RAIDEN is the almost perfect but very expensive VR. It cannot be put into mass-production or deployed in bulk. That's why the inexpensive VRs based on the same concept were required in haste. They are SAV-07 BELGDOR to which the skeleton system is diverted , and compact and light type HBV-10 DORKAS to which the skeleton system is adopted.
